Influence of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) on Ireland’s Higher Education Policy
National higher education policy coordination has become an increasingly major governance enigma as the influence of transnational actors and agencies rise. With the growing number of stakeholders and differing agendas, it is useful to consider the implications of this new landscape. Dr. Patrick Clancy will identify and address specific external influences, limitations of policy analysis, and recommendations, in regards to the National Strategy for Higher Education policy document, as well as also address the Bologna Process in respect of its social dimension.

Dr. Patrick Clancy, Emeritus Professor of Sociology from the University College Dublin
Dr. Patrick Clancy holds a Master’s degree from the University of Toronto and a PhD from University College Dublin (National University of Ireland).
His research focuses mainly on the following fields within higher education: access and equity; comparative studies and policy analysis; sociology of education; education policy; and social change in Ireland.
