Dr. Michelle Nilson - Life Beyond High School: Development of Students’ Early Understandings of Postsecondary Financing Options
Over the past 9 years, Michelle and her research team conducted interviews with urban Canadian students between grade 5 to beyond graduation in order to understand the formation of student aspirations and understandings about life beyond high school. In this talk, she will share some of the preliminary findings from these interviews, in particular, findings related to the development of student's early understandings of postsecondary financing options. She will also share lessons learned from conducting a community-based research approach to a longitudinal qualitative study.
